History

Il moro di venezia

The design of Moro di Venezia I, built in seven-layer laminated wood over laminated acacia frames, dates back to 1975, and during vintage yacht regattas she competes in the Classics category. Launched in February 1976, she became the progenitor of the Italian IOR Maxi Yacht class. She was commissioned by Raul Gardini, the former “king” of the Italian chemical industry. The subsequent yachts bearing this name went on to make Italian sailing history, competing in the America’s Cup.

In 1977, she won the Channel Race in England, and the following year she crossed the Atlantic to take part in the SORC regattas, dominating the classic Miami–Nassau race. She competed in the dramatic 1979 Fastnet and held the Barcolana record from 1987 to 2005. She is owned by Massimiliano Ferruzzi, who won the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge in the Classics category in 2013, 2015, and 2016.

zaoli e il moro

Our work with Il Moro di Venezia I began in 1980 with her previous owner, Miramonti, and since then we have supported this historic yacht for more than 35 years. Beppe Zaoli has often been on board and has shared with Massimiliano Ferruzzi some of the greatest emotions that this boat is capable of giving.
